If I could only share one thing with you about me it would be that I care about other people a lot. Sure, I have been burned personally and professionally at times as a result of it but I would rather have that than me just going through life just caring about myself. Have you ever taken a homeless person into a cafe and bought them a hot meal or paid for a pensioner's meal because you know they really need the help? Well I have and it just feels good. So, whether it is my family, my friends, my colleagues, my neighbours or people that I meet along my path in life I want them to know that I care about them. I show this through actions, not just words. I have been very fortunate in my life in so many different ways, but I feel especially fortunate in the relationships that I have built and maintained with others who are in my personal and professional life. Showing others that I care about them is an essential ingredient for me to have greater success in all facets of my life. I was helped very early in life and I have never forgotten that.
 
Aside from that I'm very fortunate to have an incredible wife and two amazing children who keep me thoroughly entertained, amused, stupified and enchanted through their energy, actions, insights and love. They mean the world to me and I try to show them that everyday. I am blessed to be with my children most of the time which is certainly an exception to the rule. My wife loves it! In fact, I get to play with the kids a great deal every day because I made the conscious decision to be there with them and for them as much as possible. I just learned how to leverage my time and energy. I also love to cook and get the opportunity to 'experiment' on my family all the time. They love it and so do I! Their energy has caused me to get back into creative writing and soon back to sketching and drawing which is very exciting. We recently moved to a great location in a new city and my family and I are thriving on all that it has to offer us.
 
The best thing about having my own business is that I get to spend more time with the ones I love, do the things I love to do, determine my own financial destiny, leverage my time and energy, meet some amazing and wonderful like-minded people, and be happy. Sure, there are bumps along the road but that is the case for everyone, no matter what their situation is. I get to live a rich and fulfilling life by having a business that focuses on helping others achieve what they want, no matter how little or small. I wouldn't have it any other way.
 
For me, it all started when I lost my job , my partner and my mom suffered a major stroke all in a period of 3 months back in 2001. Just as the World Trade Centre had collapsed, so to had my world. I spent the next 18 months in a daze and was just in survival mode when I came upon an ad for a Robert Allan weekend seminar. It was the beginning of a huge shift for me and it changed my life forever. I learnt that I could continue to care about and care for others but that I had to care for and about myself first. I joined Toastmasters and attended a number of other self-help and professional development courses and seminars over the next number of months and years and have not stopped doing so. I sought out business opportunities and tried a number of them before settling on my current business that focuses upon helping others to improve their lives in some way, big or small. It is a blast!
